The Danggalaba clan group are the traditional custodians of Larrakia country, the greater area of Darwin NT. They were also known as the Wagait mob.
Their country encompassed all the Wagait area across the Darwin harbor, known as Kenbi country, and most of the area around Darwin. This was my Danggalaba Larrakia Grandfather and Grandmother’s traditional lands. This painting depicts both grandparents’ totems. The saltwater crocodile and the tail feathers of the black cockatoo.
